We are pleased to announce that the Leach & Overington Concert Organ will be entertaining us this year. The idea for this new organ began in 1982 and building was finally completed in August of 1999, just in time for it to make its debut at the Great Dorset Steam Fair of that year. It has an 89 key frame that is based on a standard Mortier scale and is fully chromatic in all four musical sections. There are 760 pipes distributed across melody, countermelody, accompaniment and bass departments, plus percussion section. It is housed in a Bedford TK vehicle which has been completely rebuilt with a purpose-built body to specially display the organ. It is thought o be the largest mechanical organ ever built in the UK.
We are pleased to announce that SMEE have again accepted our invitation to join us this year. Their advice and expertise will be welcomed by all.
